ABOUT US

Making a Difference for Women and Children  That's What We're All About

“WOW” was founded in 1995 for the Purpose of advocating on behalf of women and children. Now entering our 24th year, WOW continues to pursue its mission with continued enthusiasm and vision to accomplish its goals. Our members are rich in talent, compassion and commitment. It is their dedication to our mission that allows WOW to be known as the prestige women’s organization on Staten Island.

As you read below and explore our website you will learn the history of WOW and of our many accomplishments on behalf of others. I know that there are thousands of organizations, out there, with specific purposes and goals.  It is my hope that you will decide that there are many reasons why you should become a member of WOW. I urge you to join us as we continue to support our mission of “women helping women” and making a difference for women in our communities.

A Note from the President

As World of Women nears its twenty fifth year anniversary it is a perfect time to reflect on past accomplishments and look forward to our future endeavors.

Then:
In 1995 World of Women was a few women meeting in a living room with nothing but

the will to make the world a better, safer place for women and children.

Now:
We are a united powerful force continually working to end domestic violence thru fund

raising, education and early intervention programs.

-We advocating for those with no voice by raising our voices with other powerful women’s organizations so our concerns are heard by legislatures, politicians and advocates.

- We are   giving 200 children in reduced circumstances a holiday party every year
-We are providing thousands of dollars in financial aid to women and children affected by Hurricane Sandy.
-We are providing thousands of dollars in Scholarship funds to young women headed to college and mature women returning to college or going for the first time.

This is an exciting time for us as we enter our next phase of advocacy and education. We welcome all women to join us at The Marina Grand Restaurant on Mansion Avenue in Great Kills on the last Monday of each month at 7:00 pm for our dinner meeting.

Come be involved and engaged and make a difference with us.
